Working with Suicide through TA Lens with Tony White
Held on 20th March 2016 after TAAS 22nd AGM
Suicide is a major social problem for many countries around the world and Singapore is no exception. The workshop used Transactional Analysis to examine the suicide phenomena. How do we understand the personality of the suicidal person using ego states? Why do the different ego states inside us drive us to live or to die? How do people become suicidal in the first place? How does Transactional Analysis explain the suicidal person as different from the non suicidal person? Tony covered the suicide decision and the homicide decision and the ways these decisions can be lived out, sometimes they can be closely linked. Finally, how can you treat or assist the suicidal person using Transactional Analysis. What new directions does it give us to help these very distressed people.
